Head on out to Colorado and the wild, wild west and experience life on a real Colorado cattle ranch. At the ranch you can become a cowboy in a true western adventure. They don't just recreate life on a Colorado ranch, they live it! Saddle up and ride with real cowboys learning all the tricks of the trade – how to work cattle, how to rope, how to cowboy up! This is an adult’s only experience; guests must be 18 or older to participate.
The ranch’s string of extremely well trained and well mannered Quarter Horses are available for you to ride during whichever week you pick over varying terrain at all speeds doing real cowboy work. No "head to tail" trail riding here! During Cowboy Adventure Weeks, ride the range all morning and then participate in Cowboy School in the afternoons. Cowboy School is a great way to have fun while refining your riding and cattle handling techniques. Practice team penning, roping, a cowboy obstacle course - or other things cowboys do for fun! Some days you will be branding cattle or doing a cattle drive and Cowboy School does not occur, on those days plan on real cowboy work all day - then belly up to the bar and relax in the saloon in the evenings or sit around the campfire and swap wild west stories with the cowboys. The cattle ranch covers about 7,000 acres and cares for around 1,000 cows and calves in Colorado's real ranch country. This is not a typical dude ranch or guest ranch resort, but a real working cattle ranch in full operation, with a focus on guest comfort while providing a full working ranch experience - the best of both worlds - a true cowboy working ranch adventure, yet what you would expect from a resort ranch - great food, a saloon, log cabin accommodations with unlimited hot water and all the creature comforts such as a heated indoor swimming pool and sauna.
The Cowboy School program and the level of guest comfort combines to make Colorado Cattle Company the best choice for your real cattle ranch vacation. Have all the reality you want - get dirty, dusty, work cattle, ride for hours doing real cattle work - then come back to great food, a soft bed, a cold beer and a hot shower. They have redefined the dude ranch experience by picking the best of all possible scenarios and putting them together to give their guests the highest level of comfort possible while keeping the experience real.
Unique also is the level of riding and cowboy experience the staff possesses; the ranch does not employ wranglers, but are instead staffed with two real cowboys who work hand in hand with the guests to do all the cattle work on the ranch. There is a highly respected cutting horse trainer on staff whose credentials are impeccable. He is happy to give private lessons and also teaches Cowboy School in the afternoons. Learn as much as you can, ride great horses doing real cattle ranch activities - with only two cowboys on staff, they really do count on the guests assisting with all cattle work. Reservation Policy
A 50% deposit is required to hold your reservaton and is non-refundable. This deposit can however be used toward future ranch vacations; you can change the dates of your current ranch vacation or you can transfer it to a friend or family member who can use it toward their future vacation. Amounts paid over the deposit will be refunded if the space can be filled with another guest either from a waiting list, future contact or with a referral from you.
Colorado Cattle Company encourages payment by electronic check or credit card either by phone, fax or on their secure online reservation page. They also accept bank money transfers from foreign guests.
