Overview

If you are looking for a real hands-on working ranch vacation with beautiful scenery, great horses, plenty of good food and a small number of guests (four to six) the Bar H Bar Ranch is the place for you!

This 9,000-acre ranch is located in the Bear River Range of the Wasatch Mountains and borders the Caribou Cache National Forest. Here you'll see Idaho at its best. You can expect to see a variety of wildlife such as deer, elk, moose and numerous smaller animals. In the summers you can witness the intense colors of the beautiful wild flowers that are rich in abundance.

The Bar H Bar Ranch is seeped in rich pioneer history. It is one of the oldest ranches in southeastern Idaho. Make sure you take the time to ride out and see the routes from the old Oregon Trail. You'll have an indescribable feeling as you try to visualize the many wagon trains that passed through here on their way to a new life.

Bar H Bar Ranch runs about 2,500 head of beef cattle here in the summer time. As a result, there is always plenty to do to make sure the cattle are in good feed, and that the fences are in good repair. You can expect to participate in all ranch activities, such as branding, vaccinating, and doctoring. Some of the guests even like to try their hand at pregnancy testing. Ask about the Green Arm Club that only takes new members at certain times in September.

At the Bar H Bar Ranch they do not expect the guests to ride “Dude Ranch Nags”. They have beautiful well-trained quarter horses. You will be taught to catch, saddle, and care for your own horse, unless of course, you can talk someone into doing it for you. They will also teach you to rope or at least give it a try.

Guest accommodations are in the old ranch bunkhouse that has been renovated and made into comfortable guest rooms with good beds and nice clean hot showers. Most of the guests appreciate the fact that there are no phones or TVs in the rooms.

Most meals are cooked and served family style in the ranch cookhouse. You will enjoy three healthy home cooked meals a day, which may include homemade bread, pies and other goodies. They also have Dutch oven cookouts and thick juicy steaks grilled to your liking. The cookhouse is open 24 hours a day just in case you get the midnight munchies.

The Bar H Bar promises a vacation you won't soon forget. You'll come as a guest, but leave as a friend.
